RBBC Christian Arts

Why Does this Ministry Exist?
This ministry exists to glorify God by preparing and leading out in
times of corporate worship. We also develop our collective
abilities to present the gospel of Christ both in worship and in
outreach through musical and other creative means.
Choir

The choir is a vital part of the worship experience at RBBC.
Faithful enthusiastic participation is the foundational quality
required. This ministry team rehearses weekly (on Sunday evenings
4:15-5:30 p.m.)
to prepare for worship services and outreach events. We have experienced
singers as well as those who have never sung in a choir before. We
do memorize most of our music -No audition required.
Orchestra

The
worship orchestra is comprised of skilled players who lead in Sunday
worship services. We include a full compliment of instruments.
Experience and reading skills are necessary for this group.
Rehearsals are each Wednesday evening and every Sunday morning at
7:30 a.m. We also participate with the choir in outreach events.
Additional instrumentalists are needed for other ongoing ministries
at RBBC.
-Audition is required.
Drama

Currently the RBBC drama troupe consists of students in the 9th
through 12th grades who are active in the Student Choir. These
students must display a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and
have a solid reputation with their peers so that putting them on
stage will in no manner draw a negative response from their peers.
Their purpose is to spread the gospel through spoken, acted out word
and impact their environment for Jesus Christ. They are presently
used as a supplement for the Student Choir ministry, however, they
do engage in other settings such as Waterfront Rescue Mission,
Passion and Passage Ministries. The Drama Ministry desires to be on
the cutting edge so as to impact the present and future generations,
challenging them to seek truth and know and be known by the Father.
Their meetings coincide with the Student Choir, meeting 1.5 to 2
hours prior to choir. They have a commitment contract requiring
both the signature of their parent or guardian, themselves and the
instructor. This assures that everyone knows the level of
commitment and standard required to participate in such a ministry.
The adult drama
program is currently seasonal and those who desire to be a part of
such a ministry are used as needed.
Mime

The Christian Art Ministry at RBBC also includes
mime. This silent art form speaks volume when revealing the truth of
the Gospel. Our vision and purpose is to encourage God's people
through passionate representation of the mysteries of scripture and
share the truth of God's Word to the unchurched person through
dramatic imagery. Currently this ministry is composed of 9th-12th
grade students who have also committed to student choir, they meet
on Sundays before student choir.
Student Choir

Rocky Bayou Baptist’s student choir consists of students in 7th
through 12th grades. They practice faithfully on
Sunday afternoons from 4:-5 pm. The students take part in the annual
presentation of The Gift and in June of each year the student choir
goes on a Music Mission Trip in which they not only perform
musically but also lead in service projects and backyard Bible
clubs. The choir is 60-70 students strong.
Children’s Choir

The children’s choir meets for one hour on Sundays. They sing in
church periodically throughout the year and practice thru the summer
on a musical to present at the end of summer. This choir is for 3rd-6th
grade students.
Movement
This group consists of 7th-12th grade students, who
must be committed to student choir. They rehearse on Sunday just
before Student choir. Interpretive movement does not require dance
skills or signing experience. It is a great way to express yourself
to the Lord.
Where Can I Serve?
There really is a
place for just about anyone in this arena of service. Many things
require specific abilities, but some do not. All aspects of this
ministry require a joyful heart of service that desires to see God
glorified in our worship.
How Can I
Get Involved?
The best way to take the next step is to get more information. You
can contact Carey Dean during office hours
